Kyle Virbitsky Crowned Pitcher of the Year

Vibrisky Led the ALPB in Wins and ERA

(Oct 1st, 2026, Waldorf, MD-) The Atlantic League has announced that Blue Crabs Starting pitcher Kyle Virbitsky has been named Pitcher of the Year following his 2026 season. 


Virbitsky led the Atlantic League with 12 wins, as well as a 4.41 ERA. The 27-year-old right-hander finished the season with two legs of the pitching triple crown.  He finished fourth in the league with 132 2/3 innings pitched and was fifth with 109 strikeouts. Along with that, Virbitsky added eight quality starts to his ledger.

Virbitsky becomes the fifth Blue Crabs pitcher in franchise history to win the Pitcher of the Year award, joining Joe Gannon in 2008, Dan Reichert in 2010, Gaby Hernandez in 2017, and Daryl Thompson who won it three straight seasons from 2019-2022. 


Virbitsky joined the Blue Crabs last August after being with the A's and Orioles systems. He was originally Selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 17th round of the 2021 MLB Draft after four successful college seasons at Penn State University.
